In rural villages, the impact is particularly severe. Families rely on each other for support and labor, and when a member is taken away, the entire household is affected. Children are left to care for younger siblings, and elderly parents are left to fend for themselves.

One survivor, who wishes to remain anonymous, shared her story with us. "I was just 16 years old when I was taken away from my village," she said. "A woman had promised my family that she would find me a job as a domestic worker in a city. I was excited to leave my rural life behind and start a new chapter. But when I arrived at the city, I was sold to a brothel. I was forced to work as a sex worker for months, until I was rescued by a local NGO."

Traffickers use a variety of tactics to lure their victims, including false promises of employment, marriage, or education. Once in their clutches, victims are subjected to physical and emotional abuse, forced to work long hours in deplorable conditions, and often sold into sex work or forced marriage.
