Winning Eleven 4 was a landmark title in this evolution. While die-hard fans could recognize players by their face maps or numbers (Ronaldo was #9, Beckham was #7), the immersion was broken when "David Beckham" appeared as "Debitto Bekkamu" or entirely different fictional names were used due to licensing restrictions.
